Day 4, Cotulla, Texas

Day 4, Cotulla, Texas

it was a lovely evening, we slept well, except for the every 4 hour dog break.

Tom was out at 7:30am to get the car to a mechanic he identified yesterday. Seems we blew a cv joint, it should get repaired today, we are waiting on a call.

Unfortunately Cotulla is a very small place that has been left barren due to the fall in oil and gas. Where this was once a boom town, it now no longer is. Which means not many options for shopping, and I'd really like to get sim cards so we have US phone capability.

And, since we can't leave the dogs unattended we can only get take out food. Ah well, at least we are out of the car.

How in the world does one watch tv here, soooooo many commercials.

I've been researching routes to get from here to Richmond VA., friend Sara has been providing me with weather and construction delay updates to get us through Texas.

So this morning when Tom took the car for the needed service, they said they'd call when it was done. 5pm Tom just called them, it's not even been started. The rationale is that they can't stop doing all the oil changes, and tire changes to do our car, so here it is 5 pm and they've done nothing yet. They say the night mechanic can do it when he gets in. ah well, there's always tomorrow.

About 7:30pm Tom got the call that the car was done, he met with the mechanic, the cv joint failure caused damage to a front tire, so now we need to replace that. oh my

So today was spent in the room, watching tv, walking the dogs, reading, napping, gads, I am ready to get out of here.

ok, so that was day 4

oh, and the renters got in to our Merida house today, and love it. Thank goodness, sometimes photos are different from the reality, so I am glad the weren't disappointed.

About Debi in Merida

I moved from Colorado Springs, Colorado USA to Merida, Yucatan, MX in January 2006. I love to read, garden, travel, and hang out with friends. Then in 2016 I moved to Richmond, Virginia, USA. Culture shock continues.

Maybe the delays were a good thing considering the flooding in Texas….
